Why it’s essential when booking online
Booking a flight or hotel online seems trivial. Yet every card number entry, every connection from public or shared Wi-Fi exposes your data to real risks: traffic interception, fake Wi-Fi access points, intrusive advertising trackers. A VPN encrypts your entire connection before it leaves your device — no one, not your ISP or a third party on the same network, can read what you send.
The budget bonus: Beyond security, VPN is an ally for your budget. By hiding your IP address, you bypass the ‘Dynamic Pricing’ : this practice of comparators which consists of increasing the prices of plane or train tickets after several visits to the same page.
The benefits that make the difference
- Swiss jurisdiction: Proton is based in Switzerland, beyond the reach of the most permissive American and European legislation. No legal obligation to monitor or deliver your data.
- Zero logs, open-source : Unlike many competitors, Proton’s zero-logs policy is verifiable: the code is open-source and independently audited.
- Secure Core : Exclusive technology: your connection passes through several servers in Switzerland, Iceland or Sweden before reaching your destination. Cascading protection not found in most consumer VPNs.
- Integrated NetShield : The NetShield blocker filters advertisements, trackers and malware in real time. Ideal for browsing travel comparison sites without being tracked with each click.
- Boosted speed : VPN Accelerator technology improves speeds by up to 400%. More than 20,000 servers in 140 countries for a fast connection wherever you are.
- Unlimited devices : A single subscription covers all your devices simultaneously: smartphone, PC, tablet, TV. Available on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Linux and Android TV.
- Split Tunneling : A crucial feature for professionals, it allows you to choose which applications go through the VPN (eg: your banking browser) while keeping a local connection for your devices (printers, NAS).
