Faced with the surge of AI and some of its practices, gobbling up creations without compensation, we must define and protect our sovereignty over our content. Let’s create a proper license.
Retribution and protection
As announced in the previous column on the subject, while waiting for solutions other than current AI, it is recommended, even imperative, to protect one’s territory and defend one’s sovereignty. Because it is no longer possible to have an economic, social, cultural and technological activity, theartificial intelligencewhich is mainly based on data theft without consent.
A new License for more assertive and clear protection
It is in this context that a new form of legal and IT license is proposed, without royalties or compensation in its use, called “Retribution”. Its objective is to be a standard making it possible to indicate very clearly for AI-type tools what is authorized and possible by content creators. And whether it be websites or books.
This license, which governs the disastrous, immoral and also illegal practice of certain AIs which collect data from sources without paying the slightest compensation, or even just asking for authorization, is intended, precisely, only for artificial intelligence type tools. This license is not intended to regulate the presence of sources and content on search engines. This is another legal area and there is already a standardized solution, although it is not very respected, which is called the robots.txt file.
Practical structuring
This will take the form of a short .txt file called retribution.txt. Here is its structure:
1st Line: — RETRIBUTION License
2nd Line: — License Level R= number from 0 to 8
- Total ban on any information, including the simple mention of existence. The site, the work or the contents must not even be known and referenced by AI
- Mention only of the name of the site or work or author. The information to be displayed will be mentioned after the space, after the number 1.
- Requires AI to display a Hyperlink on the AI page, chosen by the sourced site, which leads to one of its own web pages. The link in question is indicated after a space located after the number 2.
- Requires AI to display a simple Hyperlink chosen by the sourced site which leads to a page of a website other than its own. The link in question is named after a space after the number 3.
- Requires AI to display a hyperlink object in the referenced format (image, video, etc.) which leads to the choice of the cited source. The link in question is written after a space located after the number 4.
- Requires AIs to have paid access to the site sourced by a subscription. The link in question which leads to the payment of a remuneration decided entirely by the authors or owners of the source visited or read is indicated after a space located after the number 5.
- Requires AI to purchase piecemeal according to the pricing of the sourced site. The link in question is defined after a space located after the number 6. It leads to a page or address which gives access to content defined in their data fields against prior payment, and verified receipt, of a sum defined solely by the authors or owners of the source visited or read.
- The sourced site or work grants AI free access to all information with the obligation to mention the source on the AI page. The text that must be taken up and displayed by the AI is cited after the space after the number 7.
- The sourced site grants AI free and open access to all information without any obligation.
Example of License
In practice, this provides a structure for a site that refuses the complete and total recovery of any information.

And for a site that requires the display of a hyperlink object.

Clearly express our will and our choices.
The existence of such a file, if it does not guarantee future embezzlement or ignorance of the law by certain AIs, at least allows through reports from bailiffs, or from people authorized to provide proof, that the website or work has expressly stated what was possible or not possible to achieve on the basis of its contents.
So it is time; in relation to artificial intelligence that the rights of content creators and authors are finally recognized and respected.
Because let us remember this fundamental truth: “Machines have no rights, they only have duties”.
