The French automaker’s global sales remain generally stable, with increasing electrification and contrasting performances depending on brands and regions.
Renault sold just under 1.2 million vehicles during the first six months of 2026. This figure represents a slight decline of 0.4% compared to the first half of 2025. According to data published this Thursday, July 23 by the company, the French car manufacturer’s global sales remained generally stable over the period.
In Europe, its main market, its sales decreased by 1.3%, with 821,092 new passenger cars and utility vehicles sold over the January-June period.
Differentiated performances of the group’s brands
The Renault brand posted an increase of 2.6% year-on-year, with 528,849 sales in the first half. This progression contrasts with the performance of the Dacia brand, which sold 284,021 vehicles in Europe over the period, down 8.7% over one year.
The Dacia Sandero remains “the best-selling private vehicle in Europe across all channels,” the group specifies in its press release.
For the Alpine brand, more than 80% of European sales are now 100% electric.
More than half (52%) of the group’s passenger vehicle sales in Europe are now electrified vehicles (100% electric, plug-in hybrids and non-plug-in hybrids), a proportion up 8.2 points compared to the first half of 2025.
Two thirds of passenger vehicles sold by the Renault brand on the European continent are electrified (66.3%), an increase of 7.2 points from one year to the next. The electric R5 “is the best-selling B-segment electric vehicle (multipurpose city cars, Editor’s note) in Europe,” underlines the group.
The group adds that the Renault brand “ranks No. 2 in the European market for electric vehicles among individuals and No. 2 in the hybrid market.”
For the Dacia brand, almost a third of passenger cars sold in the first half of the year are electrified (30.8%, up 7.2 points), with a clear increase in sales of hybrid vehicles (+30.2%), which now represent one in four sales.
Growth outside Europe and strategic markets
Outside Europe, the second consecutive year of growth in sales of the Renault brand (+2.8%, to nearly 296,000 vehicles) has enabled Renault Group to “strengthen its positions in its strategic markets”. The manufacturer thus recorded growth in sales of passenger cars and utility vehicles reaching 61.2% in India (for 25,845 vehicles sold), 15.4% in Turkey (80,361 sales), 13.7% in Morocco (49,821 sales) and 5.3% in Brazil (69,077).
