Airbus plans to significantly increase its profitability by 2029

The aeronautics group anticipates a strong increase in its operational profitability by 2029 and confirms a share buyback program.

Airbus plans to significantly increase its profitability by 2029, expecting adjusted earnings before interest and tax to be around three quarters higher than its 2025 level. The group announced on Tuesday that it would organize a mid-term outlook presentation at 4:30 p.m. GMT at the Farnborough Airshow in the United Kingdom.

According to forecasts communicated by Airbus, the adjusted Ebit, which had been 7.1 billion euros in 2025, should reach 12 to 13 billion euros in 2029. “Our trajectory fuels our profitable growth, creating value for our customers, employees, partners and shareholders, while we continue to be at the forefront in sustainable aerospace”, commented the general manager Guillaume Faury, quoted in a press release.

The group clarified that its forecasts for 2026 would remain unchanged.

Share buyback program confirmed

During this presentation, management must reaffirm the objective of a share buyback, up to 5 billion euros in three years, the amount authorized by its board of directors.

While orders are driven by a favorable situation in both civil and military aeronautics, Airbus’s first challenge is to accelerate its production. It succeeds in airliners, having delivered 351 aircraft in the first half of the year, or 15% more than in the same period of 2025.
