Taxes make an exceptional transfer to 3 million taxpayers: you must complete this tax form

A tax transfer arrives in the bank accounts of 3 million taxpayers. Beneficiaries must complete a form from the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFIP) to receive the payment.

A transfer will soon slip into the pockets of 3 million taxpayers. This financial boost will be paid directly by the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFIP). However, the amount will not automatically arrive in the beneficiaries’ bank account. In fact, they will first have to complete a request form posted online by the tax administration. As the time limit for completing this process is limited, potentially eligible tax households have every interest in acting without delay.

The implementation of this payment was made possible thanks to the publication in the Official Journal of Decree No. 2026-333. This text establishes the transfer of aid of 50 euros to 3 million French households. The goal is to support taxpayers most affected by the recent increase in fuel prices.

This financial assistance is therefore specifically aimed at workers who regularly use their personal vehicle to travel between their home and their place of work or as part of their professional activity. To be eligible, the driver must demonstrate that he or she makes a daily commute of more than 15 kilometers, or at least 30 kilometers round trip. Another option is that the driver must prove that he travels at least 8,000 kilometers per year as part of his job.

The driver will not receive the aid if his vehicle does not meet certain criteria. It must be a car, motorcycle or scooter equipped with a thermal or hybrid engine. The vehicle must be insured. It must also not be considered a damaged vehicle within the meaning of articles L. 327-1 to L. 327-6 of the Highway Code.

To apply for the 50 euro aid, drivers must reside in France and have been domiciled for tax purposes on French territory in 2024. In addition, only people born before January 1, 2009 are eligible for this aid, which means that applicants must be at least 17 years old. The most determining criterion, however, remains that of income. To be eligible, the applicant must belong to a household whose reference tax income (RFR) for 2024 was less than or equal to 16,880 euros. This RFR appears on the first page of the 2024 income tax notice, received in 2025.

To receive the 50 euro transfer, eligible people must request it. They must complete a form which will be accessible on the impots.gouv.fr website from May 27. Interested parties have until the end of July to submit their request. Applicants must provide their full civil status, their tax number, the registration number of the vehicle used as well as the corresponding registration number.

Once the request has been validated by the tax administration, the compensation of 50 euros is paid by bank transfer to the taxpayer’s bank account within 10 days. The majority of beneficiaries should therefore receive their payment during the month of June if they complete their procedure quickly. The decree specifies that only one fuel allowance can be awarded per beneficiary and per vehicle.
