Taxes will reimburse around 1,000 euros to 13 million taxpayers between July 24 and 31.
The summer period is synonymous with both relaxation and spending. Between accommodation reservations, the cost of transport and the little pleasures of summer, the French budget is melting like snow in the sun. A pleasant surprise nevertheless awaits the wallets of several million households. In the heart of the holidays, between Friday July 24 and Friday July 31, a wave of transfers will arrive in their bank accounts.
The amount paid varies according to each beneficiary: some will receive 150 euros, others 700 euros, and a few will receive up to 1,300 euros in one go. In 2025, 13.2 million households had benefited from this exceptional payment. On average, each beneficiary received 1,017 euros.
It is the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFIP) which will make this transfer. On statements and on banking applications, the transaction will appear with the words “DGFIP FINANCES PUBLIQUES” in the sender and “REMB TAX REVENUS” in the description. If the tax administration makes this payment into the bank accounts of millions of taxpayers, it is simply to give them what is due to them. In fact, the DGFIP owes money to all these households and is therefore reimbursing these sums.

This year, when taxpayers declared their income received in 2025, the tax authorities calculated the income tax they owed. However, during the previous year, certain taxpayers sometimes paid too much money through withholding tax which is automatically applied to their salaries or retirement pensions.
In addition, certain taxpayers also made expenses last year which qualify for tax credits. This is particularly the case for those who employ someone at home such as a nanny, a cleaning lady or a gardener. The same goes for families who have placed a child in daycare, employees who declare mileage expenses, or taxpayers who have made donations to certain associations.
In short, the tax administration owes them money and must therefore reimburse them. The majority of beneficiaries will receive their reimbursement on Friday July 24. However, some taxpayers will have to wait an additional week, Friday July 31, to see their bank account credited.
To find out the exact amount that will be paid to them, the households concerned can consult their “Notice of declaratory situation for the 2026 tax on 2025 income”, accessible from their personal space on the impots.gouv.fr website. Looking at the first page of this document, on the right column, it is clearly indicated the “Amount that will be reimbursed”. Under this mention, appears the corresponding amount.
The tax administration recommends that taxpayers check their bank details to ensure that the transfer reaches its destination. This verification can be carried out by connecting to their particular area of the tax site, by clicking on the “Withholding tax” section then on “Update your bank details” in the left menu. An error in banking information could significantly delay receipt of these funds.
On the other side of the spectrum, 13.1 million taxpayers will have to pay additional tax this year. The amount of this additional tax balance to be paid amounted to an average of 1,910 euros in 2025. The amount these taxpayers owe will be taken directly from their bank account. For an amount less than 300 euros, a single debit will take place on September 25, 2026. For a higher amount, the tax administration will carry out four debits staggered on September 25, October 26, November 25 and December 28, 2026.
