Pension funds have revealed the dates on which they will pay retirement pensions to their members. Some retirees will receive their transfer in advance while others will have to wait.
Retirees often mark the date in their calendar, but it is not necessarily the right one. Every month, the 17.3 million French retirees wait for their retirement pension to arrive in their bank account. For many of them, this payment constitutes their one and only source of income. The August transfer is particularly anticipated because it comes at the heart of the summer period when vacation-related expenses accumulate.
If workers are used to receiving their salary on more or less regular dates, particularly at the end of the month, retirees experience a similar situation. Each pension fund is used to paying pensions to its members on the same dates every month. However, it happens that the date of the transfer is exceptionally delayed.
This situation can be explained by a simple rule: pension payments are never made during weekends or public holidays. Quite simply because pension fund staff do not work on these days. When the usual payment date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the funds then make the decision to anticipate payment to the previous Friday, or conversely, to postpone it to the following Monday.

However, a delay is precisely planned in August for certain pension funds. Millions of retirees will receive their pension on the usual date, while others will have to wait before receiving their bank transfer. Some will even have the pleasant surprise of receiving their pension in advance. For August 2026, the various pension organizations have communicated the exact dates on which the next transfers will be made.
Retirees who will have to be patient include former employees in the private sector. They are affiliated with the Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension fund, which brings together around 14 million retirees. This organization traditionally pays pensions on the first day of each month. Retirees dependent on the Alsace-Moselle Regional Retirement and Occupational Health Insurance Fund (Carsat) also benefit from a payment normally scheduled for the first day of the month.
However, as August 1, 2026 corresponds to a Saturday, Agirc-Arrco and Carsat have decided to modify their payment schedule. Retirees from these two plans will receive their transfer on Monday August 3, two days late compared to the usual date.
Another expected transfer: that of the general regime. This pension is paid by the Retirement Insurance, also called the National Old Age Insurance Fund (CNAV). The overwhelming majority of French retirees, or 15 million people, receive a pension from this organization. CNAV makes its transfers on the 9th of each month. Except this year, August 9 falls on a Sunday. CNAV retirees will then have the pleasant surprise of receiving their pension in advance: it will be paid on Friday August 7, 2026.
Finally, former civil servants follow another schedule. For them, the retirement pension arrives at the end of the month, unlike other plans. In detail, civil servants who have worked in local authorities and hospital establishments, which depend on the National Retirement Fund for Local Authority Agents (CNRACL), will receive their pension on Monday August 27, 2026. Retirees who have worked for the State will have to wait one more day before receiving their money. Their transfer is scheduled for Tuesday August 28, 2026.
